Tiny holes in wood are often caused by woodworm wood boring beetle larvae, not actual worms. Adult beetles lay eggs in cracks of untreated wood such as beams, joists, flooring, and skirting boards. The larvae tunnel through the wood for years, feeding on it and weakening its structure. Once mature, they emerge as beetles, leaving holes behind and continuing the cycle.
